Knowledge of any preventive measure is an advantage that can save a life and help a woman escape an attack. Councilwoman Madonna Flood (D) 24 wants to help women gain this advantage in a free Women’s Self Defense Class
“All women should know some basic protection techniques to keep them safe,” says Flood. “We have professionals who will show them how to defend themselves against an attack.”
A free Woman’s Self-Defense Class will be held on Wednesday, June 20th at the Okolona Fire Station #1, 8501 Preston Highway. The seminar will be held from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
Councilwoman Flood is partnering with the Louisville Metro Police Department and the Okolona Fire Department in sponsoring the event as way to give woman an advantage over a potential assault.
Sgt Greg Burnette, Property Crimes and Officer Robert Duke the Division 7 Resource Officer of Metro Police will teach the seminar. Burnette is a certified Krav Maga instructor and is a Kentucky Law Enforcement Council certified police instructor in defensive tactics.
“I want to encourage all women to take advantage of this,” says Flood. “Take control of your personal safety. Don’t let this be the training you wish you had attended.”
The seminar and training are for ladies 12 and over. Refreshments will be served.
If you have any questions or would like to register for the seminar, please call Councilwoman Flood’s office at 574-1124.
