Public Health and Wellness Offers Free Diabetes Classes

The Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness will hold two series of classes for individuals interested in learning about and managing diabetes. The first series of four classes begins Tuesday, November 1, at the Portland Branch of the Louisville Free Public Library at 3305 Northwestern Parkway. All classes in this series begin at 2:00 p.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. The class schedule is as follows:

November 1, Class 1, Overview of Diabetes, Types of Diabetes, High and Low Blood Sugar, Sick Days

November 8, Class 2, Diet and Exercise

November 15, Class 3, Diabetes Pills and Insulin, Preventing Complications Part 1

November 22, Class 4, Preventing Complications Part 2, Foot and Skin Care, Glucose Monitoring, Standards of Care.

The second series of four classes begins Wednesday, November 9, at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 3640 River Park Dr. All classes in this series begin at 1:00 p.m. and end at

3:30 p.m. The class schedule is as follows:

November 9, Class 1, Overview of Diabetes, Types of Diabetes, High and Low Blood Sugar, Sick Days

November 16, Class 2, Diet and Exercise

November 23, Class 3, Diabetes Pills and Insulin, Preventing Complications Part 1

November 30, Class 4, Preventing Complications Part 2, Foot and Skin Care, Glucose Monitoring, Standards of Care.
