Wednesday July 22, 2009
Louisville Water Company (LWC) received a Special Achievement in Geographic Information System Technology (SAG) Award at the 2009 ESRI International User Conference (ESRI UC) in San Diego, California . LWC was selected from more than 300,000 organizations worldwide and recognized for making extraordinary contributions to our global society. James Bates, LWC’s Manager of GIS (Geographic Information System), Infrastructure Records and Surveying, oversees the company’s involvement in this program.
Since 1992, LWC has progressively implemented an enterprise-wide GIS, encompassing multiple aspects of water utility planning and operations ranging from the office to the field. Initially implemented as a planning and modeling tool for infrastructure replacement and renewal, the GIS has been cultivated into a core information system, serving as an enabler for numerous business processes.
