The newest member of the Louisville Metro Council spent her first day on the job learning her way around City Hall, familiarizing herself with ordinances, and outlining her plans to reach out to all residents of District 1.
“This is a new day for me and I want the people of District 1 to know my office is here to serve their needs, I will soon make plans to get out to all areas of the District, from West Louisville to Cane Run Road, to meet people and review concerns,” said Councilwoman Attica Scott (D-1). “It is a busy time but I am ready.”
Scott was selected by the Metro Council Thursday night as the new representative of the District.
Among the Councilwoman’s first priorities will be to schedule meetings throughout the district to meet residents and business leaders. She is also laying the groundwork to form a group to work with her to address needs.
“I want to form an Advisory Council of dedicated people of the district folks who are interested in joining me to move forward,” says Scott. “I am interested in hearing from people who want to volunteer their time to work with me. I will soon be announcing the details of this new group.”
Scott says one of her first priorities is to get updated on how the Metro Council has dealt with the problem of abandoned properties over the last few years.
“It is a major concern in my district and I know the Council has also made it one of their top priorities,” she said.
