With the holiday season now upon Metro Louisville, Petersburg Park will soon join many other locations to throw the festive switch for “Light Up Newburg” on Saturday, December 5th.

“I want to take the opportunity to invite everyone in the Newburg and Norfolk Community to come out and help us bring in the holiday season,” says Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2) who is sponsoring this year’s event.

“Light Up Newburg” will get underway from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Petersburg Park located at the corner of Indian Trail and Petersburg Road.

Refreshments will be provided for the event. Before the night is over, Santa & Mrs. Claus will be on hand to listen to a child holiday list for Christmas.

Once again this year, 10 bicycles will be given away along with other prizes. Children must be present to win.

“This is the time of year when we not only want to spread some holiday cheer, but take care of children in the area because this season is very special for them,” says Shanklin. “We also plan to have some music and fun as well as enjoy the beauty of the season.”

For more information about “Light Up Newburg, call Councilwoman Shanklin’s office at 574-1102.
