Public Health and Wellness Offers Several Free and Fun Fitness Classes

Start the New Year right – become more active!

The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness has teamed up with Metro Parks and the YMCA to offer many exercise classes at various locations throughout the community. All classes are free and no prior registration is required. Simply come and have fun!

Low Impact Aerobics

Low-impact aerobic exercise consists of rhythmic movements with at least one foot on the ground involving large muscle groups accompanied by music. They are ideal for people who want to begin an activity regimen.

Hotel Louisville Tuesdays and Thursdays

120 W. Broadway 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

(Class is currently running and runs through all of 2012)

Pump

Pump group exercise is a total body workout that includes cardio, strengthening, toning and weights. It’s a great class for beginning, intermediate and advanced fitness levels.

Chestnut Street YMCA Mondays

930 W. Chestnut St. Noon – 1 p.m.

(Class is currently running and runs through all of 2012)

Zumba

Zumba combines Latin and international music with dance to make exercise fun. Classes use music based on salsa, merengue, cumbia, reggaeton, samba and other international styles.

Sun Valley Community Center Thursdays

Yoga

Yoga is a traditional physical and mental discipline that originated in India. It involves many poses that strengthen and stretch the muscles.

Cardio Remix

Cardio remix is a great workout exercising to the latest music!
