Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2) and members of the Newburg Youth Council will once again take to the streets with hundreds of others as part of “Clean up Newburg Day” in conjunction with the Brightside Community Wide Cleanup on Saturday, March 27th.
“The young people who help us with this very important job are to be commended because they are learning the benefits of community pride,” says Shanklin. “At the same time, the community is getting a look at future, homeowners, decision makers and good citizens at work.”
Volunteers will meet at the Community Missionary Baptist Church, 4909 East Indian Trail. Breakfast snacks will be provided before the cleanup starts beginning at 7:30am. The Clean up will get underway at 8:00 am and last until 12:00 pm. After the cleanup, lunch will be served to all volunteers who came out to help.
“If you have never taken part in one of our cleanups you should know you are missing out on a fun day,” says Shanklin. “We are fortunate to have many good volunteers along with our young people; if you come out and help us you will meet some fine neighbors.”
