Air Pollution Control to appear before Energy and Environment Committee

Lauren Anderson, Executive Director of the Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District will appear before the Metro Council’s Energy and Environment Committee at its next meeting on Thursday, April 15th.

“As we approach another summer, it is important for the Committee to know where APCD is with air quality standards in the coming months,” says Councilman Brent T. Ackerson (D) 26) who chairs the Committee.

Anderson will give a brief overview of the APCD and she will also explain what the National Ambient Air Quality Standards are as Louisville continues to improve air quality. The EPA is in the process of toughening all air quality standards in the United States which will impact the Metro area.

The Committee will meet at 3:00pm in Council Chambers. The meeting will be carried live on Metro TV, Insight Cable Channel 25. The meeting will also web streamed live, simply go to www.louisvilleky.gov/metrocouncil and click on the “Watch Meetings Online” Icon.

The next meeting of the Energy and Environment Committee will be Thursday, May 13, 2010.
