Councilman George Unseld (D) 6 spent Friday afternoon looking over the damage to an office building in 300 block of West Kentucky and a bed and breakfast on South Fourth Street following the earthquake this morning.

“Bill Shreck of IPL has assured me that the building is secure and there should be no further problems,” says Unseld who represents much of the Old Louisville area. “The city is in the process of checking other buildings to make sure there is no danger to residents.”

After this morning’s earthquake, brick on the top corner of the building came loose and hit the sidewalk below. Metro Emergency Management officials have indicated many structures including bridges and parking garages are being inspected to see if there is any additional.

“With so many older houses and building sin the Old Louisville area, I would ask owners to check things out and make sure everything is the way it should be,” says Unseld. “If you see something unusual then contact Metro Government.”
