Metro Council’s Public Safety Committee to discuss proposed Panhandling Ordinance

Louisville, KY – The Metro Council’s Public Safety Committee will hear testimony on a proposed ordinance meant to curtain panhandling activities in downtown Louisville. The meeting will be held at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers (3rd Floor, 601 West Jefferson Street).

Public Safety Committee Chairman Kevin Kramer has worked will persons representing various groups to discuss this issue during the meeting. Some of the presenters scheduled to appear include:          

Marlene Gordon - Executive Director - Louisville Coalition for the Homeless

Ken Herndon - Director of Operations for Downtown Management District

Barry Alberts - Executive Director - Downtown Development Corporation

Maria Price - Development Director - St. John Center

The Panhandling Ordinance (O-278-11-07) is sponsored by Councilmen David Tandy (District 4) and George Unseld (District 6). A copy of this ordinance is attached.
