Some 15 different health services will be offered for free as a result of a partnership between Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D) 13 and the Greater Louisville Medical Society during the Fairdale Community Fair.
“This is a great opportunity for anyone to take advantage of information that could lead to a healthier lifestyle,” says Welch.
The Health and Wellness Expo will be located in the Fairdale Playtorium at 10616 W. Manslick Road. It will be open during the operating times of the Fairdale Community Fair.
“It is a pleasure for GLMS to work with Councilwoman Welch to help provide these important health services to this community,” says Robert W. Powell, MD, GLMS Community Health Committee Chair.
Various free health screenings will be offered to help citizens identify and prevent: asthma, high blood pressure and diabetes. The Fairdale Lions Club will also offer free visual screenings at the health fair. There will also be a dental advisor as well as information on how to quit smoking, exercise and nutrition tips.
“As a nurse by profession, one of my goals in government is to help improve the health of the community,” says Welch. “This is a great opportunity to take a break from the fun of the Fair and take a few minutes to learn how to take better care of yourself and your family.”
