Revenue Commission: Now Register Online

Thursday December 29, 2005

All non-profit organizations, including churches, with one or more employees and all persons engaged in any business, profession, trade or occupation within Louisville Metro (which includes all of Jefferson County) must register with the Louisville Metro Revenue Commission. Only those individuals whose only earned income derives from employers who withhold the employees’ license taxes from wages and pay these license taxes to the Metro Revenue Commission are exempt. Anyone doing business as a corporation, sole proprietor or partnership (either part-time or full-time) is required to register - even if no profit is actually earned and no license tax is due in the year of registration.

You can register your business at Select ‘Register My Business’, complete the application, and submit your registration form on-line.

All data entered will be reviewed by the Metro Revenue Commission for compliance and accuracy before a new account is established. If all requirements are met for the business type being registered, an account will be established and a “Certificate of Registration” will be forwarded to the primary mailing address entered.
