Councilman Dan Johnson (D-21) has been appointed a member to the 2009 Transportation Infrastructure and Services Steering Committee of the National League of Cities.
“I look forward to working with representatives from across the United States on an issue that is vital to every community in our country,” says Johnson. “The time for serious consideration to our crumbling infrastructure is now.”
The TIS Steering Committee meets four times a year and at the top of their agenda are provisions in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act currently under consideration by the US Congress. The Committee will also review the soon to be expired Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient, Transportation, and Equity Act.
“The future of our transportation needs is a priority of mine and it should be for all cities across the nation,” says Johnson.
The Committee will hold its first meeting in Washington DC in March.
