Louisville – Councilwoman Attica Scott (D-1) and the Center for Neighborhoods will host a special meeting for residents in the Chickasaw and Parkland Neighborhoods to announce three new public art projects.

“We have an opportunity to transform vacant buildings into public works of art in our neighborhoods in District 1,” says Scott. “I want folks to know how they can get involved with this special effort and that is the purpose of this meeting.”

Responding to resident concerns about blight in their neighborhoods, Scott has identified three vacant sites in Parkland and Chickasaw for transformation through a public art project.
The special meeting is set for Thursday, February 6th at the

Catholic Enrichment Center, 3146 West Broadway beginning at 6:00pm.

Three sites have been chosen in the Parkland and Chickasaw neighborhoods for a transformation through a public art project. Councilwoman Scott and the Center for Neighborhoods are working with Producing Art in Neighborhoods Together (P.A.I.N.T).

Those who attend the meeting will be able to:

· Participate in a discussion on the P.A.I.N.T. project process

· Learn how YOUR involvement is crucial to a dynamic art piece

· Collaborate with the potential artists in a P.A.I.N.T. Workshop

Organizers would like the community to get involved by expressing input on the characteristics, places and people that make Parkland and Chickasaw important to our community of neighborhoods.

“We see the difference public art can make with the 'Parkland Rising' Project on 32nd and Greenwood Avenue,” says Scott. “Here is our chance to spread public art in the District! Please join us.”
