When the year 2010 rolls around, residents of Metro Louisville will have not one but two beautiful waterfront parks to enjoy in Jefferson County.

For a glimpse at the future, Metro Council Rick Blackwell (D) 12 and Councilman Bob Henderson (D) 14 are holding a special “Fun in Riverview Park” Day on October 28th.

“There are great things coming to Southwest Jefferson County with the future of Riverview Park,” says Blackwell. “It’s an exciting plan, something the whole community can enjoy, not just District 12.”

“Fun in Riverview Park” will get underway from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday, October 28th.

Waterfront Development Corporation officials will be on hand to explain the new designs and expansion plans for the Park. Those plans include better boat launching facilities, trails, ball fields, shelters, a large promenade for throwing Frisbees or flying kites and a “splash park” similar to the one at Waterfront Park.

“I want people to come out and see the designs and ask questions,” says Henderson. “We have great momentum for this and one day when some says lets go to that park on the Ohio River, someone might say which one.”

“Residents have been clearly and loudly asking for better access to the river and better play areas for youngsters. We heard the message and the answers are coming.” says Blackwell

The Spirit of Jefferson will be available offering boat rides to residents of District 12 and 14. Currently there is a waiting list for cruises, if you would like to be placed on the list then call President Rick Blackwell’s office at 574-1112.
