Hamilton to speak to EmergeKentucky on Saturday, April 24th

Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D-5) will be among many speakers to address Democratic women who may someday become future elected officials in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and beyond.
“Our Commonwealth needs to do more to encourage woman of walks of life to become part of the political system,” says Hamilton. “EmergeKentucky is a crucial starting point to get involved.”
Hamilton will take part in a training session on Saturday, April 24th entitled “Ready to Run, Part II. She will share with attendees her political experiences that include not only the Metro Council but as a former Alderman of the old City of Louisville along with her involvement with Democratic politics on the state and national level.
“Kentucky ranks 45th among states for women in elected office,” says Hamilton. “Of Kentucky’s 120 counties where there are County Judge Executives only six of those offices are held by women.”
EmergeKentucky is an affiliate of EmergeAmerica. The goal is encourage more women to run for office. The program provides information and training to achieve the goal of elective office. It covers areas of public speaking, campaign strategy, Fundraising, Networking and field Operations.
EmergeAmerica is working in nine states including Kentucky.
The Saturday meeting will take place at the IBEW Hall at 4315 Preston Highway. Councilwoman Hamilton will speak at 4:00pm.
