Louisville to Celebrate Kick Butts Day Tomorrow

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 22, 2007) Louisville will celebrate National Kick Butts Day tomorrow, Friday March 23rd from 4 to 6 p.m. with educational and fun activities for children ages 6 to 18 at the Neighborhood House at 201 North 25th Street.
Thoracic surgeon Dr. Mike Bousamra and medical residents from the University of Louisville School of Medicine will give a presentation explaining what smoking can do to a young person’s lungs, teeth, and heart. There will be displays of lungs ravaged by years of smoking and of teeth and gums rotted by tobacco use. Dr. Bousamra’s tricked out Ford GT will also be on hand as part of his Drive Out Cancer Campaign.
Rap artist Andre Green will entertain at the event. A pizza party will also be held following the presentations.
The Louisville Kick Butts Day celebration is sponsored by the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness, the Jefferson County Smokefree Coalition, Neighborhood House, and the Portland Now Prevention Partnership.
National Kick Butts Day is the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids' annual celebration of youth advocacy, leadership and activism. Kick Butts Day is a day to stand out, speak up and seize control in the fight against tobacco. It is an important opportunity to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco addiction and support strong tobacco prevention policies. Kick Butts Day encourages children to refrain from tobacco use.
