Among the many signs and billboards along on Dixie Highway, a very special sign will soon welcome motorists and visitors to Southwest Louisville. Members of the Louisville Metro Council will join other community leaders on Friday, March 20th when a new “Southwest Louisville Welcomes You” banner is unveiled.

“This is one of many new things that show how much pride there is in this area of Metro Louisville,” says Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13). “I am looking forward to seeing this new banner.”

The banner, sponsored by the Southwest Dream Team will be unveiled at Jim Vincent’s Body Shop 4411 Dixie Highway. The 90’ long and 15’ high banner features six photographs from around the area with the logo of the Southwest Dream Team and will be visible to anyone exiting the Watterson Expressway heading south.

“It is good to see something that’s friendly and let’s people know, we welcome you to our end of town,” says Councilman Bob Henderson (D-14). “There are many good things happening out here and the Southwest Dream Team is one of the groups making those good things happen.”

Welch and Henderson provided funding for the banner along with Council members Judith Green (D-1), Mary Woolridge (D-3), Rick Blackwell (D-12) and Marianne Butler (D-15).

“This is one way to change the face of Southwest Louisville,” says Blackwell. “We are a growing community and have as much to offer as any part of Metro Louisville.”

The banner will be unveiled at 12:00pm
