Metro Councilwoman Mary C. Woolridge (D) 3 will be on hand for a special ground blessing ceremony that will welcome a family to 2332 Woodland Avenue in the district.
Sha’nika, a mother of three girls, will purchase a four bedroom home that is handicapped accessible from Habitat for Humanity. Two of her children suffer from Spinabifida.
“This will be a great day for a very deserving family, “says Woolridge. “I look forward to helping this family become part of a growing community.”
This house is also special because its construction is sponsored by Louisville native Larry Birkhead in honor of his daughter, Dannielynn. Birkhead will be on hand for the ceremony.
Woolridge will join Sha’nika, her family and Habitat officials when the ground blessing gets underway at 11:30am. Habitat volunteers will spend the next week raising the roof of the structure as construction begins on Sha’nika’s new home.
