Metro Council President Tandy (D-4) has announced the creation of an Ad Hoc Committee to review proposed changes to the Metro Government Code of Ethics. The decision came as a result of two ordinances which have been filed to revise the Code.
One is sponsored by Council Members Marianne Butler (D-15) and Jon Ackerson (R-18). The other is sponsored by Councilman Ken Fleming (R-7).
“I will be asking the Chairs of Caucuses to submit five names to me to serve on the committee,” says Tandy. “I will be the chair and hope to begin review of both ordinances within the next two weeks.”
Tandy says through the Ad Hoc committee, he plans to have a thorough review of both pieces of legislation.
“This will be a chance for everyone to bring up their concerns about what is needed to have the best ethics ordinance possible,” says Tandy “I encourage all members of the Council to bring their concerns to this committee so we can take politics out of the process and work together.”
The President says he hopes the Ad Hoc Committee will have recommendations ready by the end of April.
The Committee will meet on Tuesdays of Council week beginning in two weeks.
