Louisville – The District 2 Metro Council office is calling upon the community to help Santa spread some Christmas cheer for needy children in the Newburg and Norfolk area.
In prior years, donors have brought smiles to the faces of needy children by providing new toys and other items at the “Light Up Newburg” ceremony in Petersburg Park. This year, there has been a shortfall of donations and individual donors, so the District 2 office is asking for the community’s help in continuing this tradition.
Between now and December 13th, anyone in the community who would like to help can do so by donating an unwrapped toy, game; or, a set of gloves/hat, appropriate for a girl or a boy and costing no more than $10.00 each.
Monetary donations may also be made, in any amount, and the shopping will be taken care of for you. Checks can be made out to the Petersburg Improvement Association, a (501 c3) organization.
Please drop off any toys and/or donations @ City Hall 601, West Jefferson Street, in care of Council District 2. The cutoff date for all donations is Friday December 13th at 5pm.
For more information, contact the District 2 office at 574-1102.
