In years past, volunteers have been the backbone of any cleanup campaign that has gone on in District 9. Once again, volunteers will go to work on Saturday, November 7th
as part of a district wide cleanup sponsored by Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh
“I have never been disappointed when we have asked for any help to make our community a better place to live,” says Ward-Pugh. “This will be our 11th Annual cleanup and the pride of the people of this district knows no limits.”
Volunteers will meet at 8:30am in the parking lot of the Crescent Hill Library, 2762 Frankfort Avenue. After coffee and some breakfast items (provided by Heine Brothers and Clifton McDonalds), more than 100 volunteers will fan out across the district to focus on removing trash, cigarette butts, and overgrowth in the right of way.
Brightside will provide free t shirts, bags and gloves for the cleanup effort. Louisville Metro Solid Waste Management will then pick up all bagged trash and debris at the end of the cleanup which will run until 12:00 noon.
“This year we’ll also remind all groups that they might qualify for Brightside grant money for beautification projects in their area,” says Ward-Pugh.
