Louisville – Councilman Rick Blackwell announces a very important District 12 Dialogue on Tuesday, June 19th designed to help anyone who wants to serve on a Metro Government Board or Commission achieve that goal.
“For some time now, I have been advocating more geographic diversity of those who are selected by the Mayor and his administration to serve on various boards and commissions in our government,” says Blackwell. “As Chair of the Committee on Appointments, I want to spread the word and encourage citizens in all of our districts to apply if you wish to be considered.”
Lori Hatton, Mayor Greg Fischer’s Appointments Liaison to the Metro Council will be the featured speaker. She will talk about the appointments process and discuss the needs of the administration in both identifying potential appointees and the desired traits/skills the Mayor looks for in appointees.
“The Council’s has been asking for diversity all across our city but the effort will go nowhere if people do not step up and agree to serve,” says Blackwell.
Council members David Yates (D-25), who is a member of the Appointments Committee, Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13) and Bob Henderson (D-14), encourage residents of their districts to attend this meeting at the Southwest Government Center, 7219 Dixie Highway beginning at 7:00pm.
