City, KentuckianaWorks to match job seekers and sales openings
With overwhelming success of a pilot sales institute, the city is partnering with two training/staffing agencies to hold two additional Sales Training Institute for participants to learn what it takes to be a successful sales representative. The first sales institute attracted 35 participants.
The next Sales Training Institutes are:
- January 8, Louisville Free Public Library, Main Branch, 301 York Street, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Training will be coordinated by Sandler Training.
- January 16, Louisville Free Public Library, Southwest Branch, 10375 Dixie Highway, 12:30 – 7:30 p.m. Training will be coordinated by Malone Solutions.
“We have many job openings and many people in our community without a job, so it only makes sense to play matchmaker in helping job seekers and employers find each other,” Fischer said. “We are focused on being a community of lifelong learners, and whether you are ready to enter a new career field or take your career to a new level, you can find a new learning opportunity with the Sales Institute.”
The institutes will be for participants only during a 5- hour training program. Sales professionals from local companies will lead mock sales role-playing activities with the participants, giving them a chance to demonstrate what they've learned. These professionals also will meet one-on-one with participants to discuss career opportunities.
"Trained sales professionals continue to be in demand with employers in our region. The Mayor's Sales Institute is a perfect opportunity for candidates to gain sales-oriented training from top employers in the region and make a job match," said Michael Gritton, executive director of KentuckianaWorks.
To register for the event, interested job seekers should go to http://www.kentuckianaworks.org/MSI.aspx. There is a short qualification requirement, and some available positions require a high school diploma/GED and some require a bachelor's degree.
Participating employers to date include Liberty Mutual, Sam Swope Auto Group, Malone Solutions, Prudential, Unified Tech, Your Community Bank, State Farm, Cisco, and Medline. Louisville Free Public Library is a partner in the Mayor’s Sales Institute.
