Louisville – Some people dread approaching 30 but one group in Metro Louisville is looking forward to it.

Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D) 9 will lead a Woman 4 Woman repair team in a special project on Saturday June 17th, 2006.

The repair team will paint the home of Joyce Garth at 655 41st Street. But there is a special significance for this home. It is the 30th done by the group since the effort began in 1999.

“It is amazing to think of the good we have done over the last seven years,” says Ward-Pugh. “We have been able to help many people in need.”

For the last seven years, Women 4 Women in partnership with New Directions Housing Corporation have been holding a “Repair Affair”.

“Women from all walks of life get together, pick up a paint brush, sweat a little  and help some people who may not have known where to turn for help,” says Ward-Pugh.

The project started out as a simple idea of painting a few rooms.

“But then we saw a need for an all out effort to help these homeowners stay as a part of their neighborhood,” says Ward-Pugh.

If you would like more information about the project or Women 4 Women contact Joyce Seymour at 502-561-8060 ext. 1020. Or you can e-mail her at joyce@w4w.org
