“Images of Riverside” Photography Exhibit at Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing
Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing, Inc. will host an exhibition of original photographs by local talent Mike McCubbins entitled “Images of Riverside” from August 15 to 24, 2006. The public is invited to a reception for the artist on Thursday, August 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Riverside Visitors Center, 7410 Moorman Road.
A resident of the Valley Station area, McCubbins has taken a number of surprising and beautiful photographs of the Riverside property. His arresting images include exterior landscapes, garden shots and details from the interior of the historic Farnsley-Moremen House, the centerpiece of the historic site.
When asked what made him select Riverside for his subject matter, McCubbins said: “I guess in a way...it chose me. Everything I learned about photography all started here. I wanted to show the house was alive. The small details of the windmill turning, the reflecting doorknob and the tiles of the kitchen roof...images you can touch and feel. I hope I have accomplished this and in the process done the house the justice it deserves.”
Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing is pleased to give McCubbins the opportunity to exhibit his work for the first time.
