Public Health and Wellness Offers Free Diabetes Classes

The Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness will hold a series of four free classes for individuals interested in learning about and managing diabetes. Classes begin Thursday, March 8 at the YMCA Services Office, 545 S. 2nd Street, 40202.
Classes are free and attendance at the entire series of four classes is encouraged. All classes begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m. Phone 574-6663 for reservations or for more information. Class size is limited so please call to make a reservation. The class schedule is as follows:
March 8, Class 1, What is Diabetes? Monitoring, Nutrition Basics – What is a Carbohydrate?
March 15, Class 2, Dealing with Sick Days and Acute Complications, Medications, Carbohydrate Counting – Putting It into Practice.
March 22, Class 3, Staying Healthy and Taking Care of Yourself, Carbohydrate Counting, Fats, Sodium and Label Reading.
March 29, Class 4, Taking Care of Your Feet, Weight Loss and Maintenance, Exercise, Healthy Coping.
