Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2) announces some emergency help for residents in the District who may have lost food because of recent power outages due to the winter weather.

Shanklin is working with First Neighborhood Place at Thomas Jefferson Middle School on Rangeland Road to help with food vouchers and canned goods for elderly and disabled residents in the District.

β€œAll a resident has to do is check with Neighborhood Place,” says Shanklin. β€œNeighborhood Place will be able to see who is qualified for this assistance.”

Shanklin is using money from her Neighborhood Development Funds to provide the assistance. The program will begin on Thursday, February 5th.

The Councilwoman also announces that Peace Presbyterian Church at 4210 East Indian Trail will be offering hot meals for residents in District 2 on Tuesday, February 3rd and Thursday, February 5th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
