When the Easter Parade makes its way down Frankfort Avenue this year, Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D-9) will be leading the way as the 2010 Parade Grand Marshal.
“It’s a treat to join hundreds of others in a community event so unique to the Frankfort Avenue area,” says Ward-Pugh. “If you have never been to our Easter Parade, you’re missing a great community neighborhood event.”
The 18th Annual Frankfort Avenue Easter Parade will begin at 11:30am in front of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2822 Frankfort Avenue, and will travel from Stilz to Haldeman Avenue. It is sponsored by the Frankfort Avenue Business Association.
“The great thing about this parade is everyone can participate,” says Ward-Pugh. “There will be floats, balloons and candy and anyone can join the fun; friends, family, wagons and pets; are all welcome.”
Among the parade participants this year; the Shriner’s, Hwang’s Martial Arts, the Black Cat Jazz Band, the Talking Police Car, the Bubble Truck, and local dance teams.
Everyone is encouraged to dress in their “Easter Finest” or “Easter Outrageous.” All eyes will be focused on those fabulous Easter bonnets. Once again, "Good Ears" awards will be presented to the most creative float and the most outrageous Easter bonnet. Children are encouraged to bring their Easter baskets along for plenty of candy.
The event is free for everyone and for more information call Michaelle at (502) 419-6159 or visit www.frankfortave.com.
