Louisville – “Roll em” and “Pass the Popcorn” may become familiar phrase in Shawnee Park on Friday nights in September.
Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D) 5 announces a Free Family Film Festival will get underway in Shawnee Park beginning on September 15th.
“I first heard about outdoor family film festivals a few years ago that were held in parks in Brooklyn, New York,” says Hamilton.
The festival will get underway at the Shawnee Park Sports Complex at Southwestern Parkway at Market Street.
“Outdoor family film festivals are a good way to provide free entertainment that our families can enjoy together,” says Hamilton.
In the event of rain, the films will be shown the next day. All coming to the festival are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
The Free Family Film Festivals will be held on September 15th, 22nd and 29th. It includes three first run major motion pictures from Hollywood. The Friday night start time is 8:30pm.
“The park setting will be a relaxing way to kick back after a long week of school and work and see some excellent movies that provide a message as well as entertainment,” says Hamilton.
