Louisville Metro TRIAD to Host 11TH Annual Senior Day Out

More than 1600 seniors and disabled individuals in our community will gather for fun and fellowship, Tuesday, Oct. 4 at the 2011 Senior Day Out in Louisville. Participants will enjoy a complimentary lunch, educational activities, health screenings, guest speakers, dancing, bingo and much more.

Louisville Metro TRIAD, the host of this event, along with over 30 sponsors, more than 80 exhibitors and numerous community partners, will present an exciting day of education and entertainment. Attendees can learn about safety information, recreational activities, consumer protection, financial education, and take advantage of health screenings and flu shots. Ken Schultz and Reverend Ron Loughry will be the Masters of Ceremonies with presentations by Mayor Greg Fischer and other elected officials and special guests. Live music will be provided by the Street Heat Band, and the dance floor will be open for all to enjoy. “Elvis” will be there in his pink Cadillac.

Louisville Metro TRIAD, a grassroots partnership between local law enforcement, representatives of senior groups, service providers and community volunteers, is committed to bringing valuable services and programs to seniors at this event – now in its 11th year. Many other local organizations and businesses have also joined forces to support Senior Day Out 2011 including Louisville Metro Office for Aging & Disabled Citizens, Passport Advantage, Access Services Group, Inc., Today’s Transitions, Medical News for You, AARP Kentucky, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, KIPDA, Louisville Metro Police and Metro Parks Department.

“Senior Day Out is one of many ways we support Louisville area seniors, a population that is steadily growing,” said Cindy Venable, Director of the Louisville Metro Office for Aging & Disabled Citizens. “Each year, many of this region’s key organizations pool their resources to create the most informative environment possible, which is one reason why this event is so successful.”

Senior Day Out takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 4th at the Kentucky International Convention Center at 4th and Market Streets between 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Seniors and other attendees for this event must have registered in advance to receive the lunch. Others are welcome to participate without the lunch.
