Louisville, KY (October 7), 5-7 p.m. – Louisville’s newest public greenspace will host its first family music night since the ribbon cutting and dedication. The new Emerson Gardens Park is on the corner of Hickory and Sylvia Streets in the Schnitzelburg neighborhood. This is the former site of Emerson School and is also home to a popular community garden.

With the park’s recent transformation into a public greenspace, including a gazebo for outdoor musical events and community festivals, this event will continue a tradition of family-friendly community events and outings for residents of District 10 and all Louisville Metro.

“The grand opening of the park in June afforded new opportunities to families, neighbors and friends to gather and enjoy our Metro Parks right in their own backyard. We want Emerson Gardens Park to be a true neighborhood hub for community concerts and showcase local entertainers,” says President Jim King (D-10). We hope to build on the already strong partnerships that the Schnitzelburg neighborhood has in place. Every amenity surrounding this neighborhood is enriched by the people and businesses that live and work here.”

The Schnitzelburg Neighborhood Association has a legacy of traditions such as the Dainty Contest, #1 Citizen Dinner and other community endeavors that are examples of strong partnerships that demonstrate how collaboration and cooperation among residents, businesses and non-profits contribute to making Schnitzelburg a great neighborhood to live, work and play.

Fall Family Music Night on October 7 starts at 5 p.m. with music from local entertainers, Barefoot Best Friends and BlueZengrass.
