Councilwoman Mary C. Woolridge (D) 3 will join up with the Central District Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Kentucky for a special purpose on Saturday, August 11th..
Their mission is to help children get ready to head back to school.
“I look for as many opportunities as possible to work with organizations that serve our community,” says Woolridge. ”I am especially happy to work with community groups that reach out to children.”
The lodge and its members will be handing out book bags and school supplies to an estimated 400 children at the corner of 28th and Dumesnil. The giveaway will be from 10:00 am to 2:00pm. Children of all ages are expected.
“Our goal is to help parents get their children ready to return to school with all the supplies they need to have a good start,” says Johnny Ware, Central Deputy Director of the Lodge.
Last year, the Prince Hall Grand Lodge helped 325 children with needed supplies to start a new school year.
Music, games and refreshments will also be available during the event.
