In an effort to help the Salvation Army provide food, shelter and comfort during this holiday season, Metro Councilman Bob Henderson (D) 14 will invest an hour in a holiday tradition; bell ringing.
“When you think of the good work the Salvation Army does for all of us in Metro Louisville, I plan to raise as much money as I can in 60 minutes,” says Henderson.
On Friday, December 14th, Henderson will take over the Salvation Army kettle at the Wal-Mart Store in Valley Station. From 3:00 - 4:00pm, he will ring the bell and greet holiday shoppers.
But there is an incentive to work hard.
“Wal-Mart has let us know that for every dollar we raise on Friday, they will match the amount for the Salvation Army,” says Henderson. “So I say come on Valley Station. Let’s show Wal-Mart and the Salvation Army what we can do.”
The Wal-Mart is located at 10445 Dixie Highway.
“I know many folks will come out to see me, but I would like for everyone who sees a red kettle this weekend, to stop and fish around for some change or a dollar and give,” says Henderson. “It will make you feel good about the holiday.”
