Councilwoman Judith Green (D-1) will have the honor of delivering a very special commencement address when 35 Head Start students graduate on Friday, May 22nd.
“Anytime we can congratulate and praise the accomplishment of any child, then I want to be part of the ceremony,” says Green. “The purpose of Head Start is to make sure children like these get off on the right foot when beginning their education and I am proud of them.”
The Head Start students are a part of the program of the Dawson Orman Education Center. There are nine Head Start Classes made up of 176 children. The program helps children from ages six weeks to age 5.
The Center also provides pre-kindergarten services for children that range in age from three to four years. There are a total of 170 students.
“I have a special interest in the well fair of children of all ages,” says Green. “From time to time, I like to check on what is going on in the classroom because it is important to see that these children are getting all the benefits of Head Start.”
The Ceremony will take place from 11:30 am to 12:30pm. The Dawson Orman Education Center is located at 900 So. Floyd St.
