The hills will be alive with the sound of music in May. Those hills are in the Jefferson Memorial Forest.

“Forest Fest will give everyone a chance to come out and hear some good music and see that we have a hidden treasure right here in Metro Louisville,” says Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D) 13.

On Saturday, May 19th some five different musical groups will entertain at the Jefferson Memorial Forest when Forest Fest kicks off at 10:30 am.

“It’s not a bad way to spend a Saturday,” says Welch. “If you want to walk the Forest, you will be able to hear some music. If walking is not your thing, pull up a chair or blanket and just listen.”

Bands performing at Forest Fest include: Bluegrass 101, Kentucky Sassafras, Hog Operation, Stone Hallow and Murell Thixton & Friends. The event is free to the public.

“We are fortunate to have local businesses that are joining Metro Government to just have some fun on a Saturday,” says Welch.

Home cooking will be provided by the Fairdale Lion’s Club and desserts by Ehrler’s Ice Cream. Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Pic Pac, Dignity Memorial, First Quality Music and the Fairdale Fresh Market are among the contributors to this event.

Council President Rick Blackwell (D) 12, along with Council Members Bob Henderson (D) 14, Robin Engel (R) 22 and Madonna Flood (D) 24 joined Welch in contributing to the cost of the Forest Fest.
