Louisville – When anyone hears of the “Golden Antlers” they may think of the treasured prize of the great Steamboat Race during Kentucky Derby Festival Week in May.
However, there are another very important set of “Golden Antlers” that are handed out in December.
These antlers denote a special award to a business on Frankfort Avenue that is a good neighbor and good business.
“Tis the season once again when I have the good fortune to bestow the coveted Golden Antlers,” says Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D) 9. “Yes, the coveted Golden Antlers to the best decorated business.”
The award is one of the highlights of the “Olde Tyme Christmas on Frankfort Avenue” celebration set for this Saturday, December 2nd.
Ward-Pugh will make the presentation at 2:00 pm in front of Margaret’s Consignments at 2700 Frankfort Avenue.
The Frankfort Avenue Business Association is the primary sponsor of the event which is a day of activities designed to enjoy the feel and flavor of the area in the spirit of the holidays.
“Along with this prestigious honor is the opportunity to recognize outstanding businesses and citizens in the Frankfort Avenue area for shaping our neighborhoods in a positive way,” says Ward-Pugh.
Among the highlights of the “Olde Tyme Christmas” are the 11th Annual Santa Sprint and Stroll, the Holiday Dog Walk and the day will end with candlelight tours of the Peterson-Dumesnil House.
