Craig Buthod, Executive Director of the Louisville Free Public Library, will be the special guest for this month’s District 12 Dialogue. It will be held at the Southwest Government Center, 7219 Dixie Highway, beginning at 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 21st.

Metro Council President Rick Blackwell (D) is encouraging everyone to come out and learn more about the plan that enhances and expands the Metro Louisville library system.

“There will be plenty of discussion about the vote in November to help fund Louisville’s Free Public Library system,” says Blackwell. “I want to give the public a chance to come out and ask questions of those who support building more modern and state of the art libraries in our city.”

In June, library supporters presented to council members signed petitions to put forward a referendum on the creation of a library district to voters. In July, the council gave approval to place the question on the ballot on November 6th.

“If the referendum passes, Southwest Louisville will see three new libraries built; branch libraries in Shively and Pleasure Ridge Park plus an additional regional library in Valley Station.” says Blackwell.

Other Metro Government agencies will have representatives on hand to answer questions or concerns. A representative from Congressman John Yarmuth’s office will also attend.
