Councilman Brent T. Ackerson is encouraging residents in the Bon Air area of District 26 to attend an important meeting hosted by MSD regarding the Hikes Point Relief Sewer Project on Thursday, February 9th.

“MSD will soon begin construction on this project which will give relief to sanitary sewer overflow in some areas of Hikes Point,” says Ackerson. “It is important that residents and traffic impacted in the construction area know the time table for this project.”

The project consists of installing 21 inch sewer pipe along Rio Rita Avenue, Commander Drive and Wedgewood Way in the Bon Air area. The construction begins in February and will last approximately six months. The project is part of MSD’s 2009 Amended Consent Decree with the EPA.

MSD officials will be on hand to answer questions on the project at a public meeting to be held at St. Barnabas Parish, Gallagher Hall, 3042 Hikes Lane from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

For more information, contact Councilman Ackerson’s office at 574-1126.
