Louisville – Residents of the California Neighborhood in West Louisville will bring in the holiday season with a special event on Saturday, December 8th when the 2nd Annual Light Up California gets under way in California Leisure Park beginning at 6:00pm.
“This is a wonderful time of year for one of Metro Louisville’s greatest neighborhoods,” says Councilman David James (D-6). “I invited everyone to come out and join us for some wonderful holiday cheer.”
Councilman James will welcome Santa Claus, city leaders, and neighborhood residents to California Leisure Park, located at the corner of Dixie Highway and West Kentucky Street, for an evening of festivities.
Light up of the park, including the 2nd annual lighting of the “California Unity Tree”, will occur at 6:30pm. Santa will arrive shortly after 6:30pm and will take the wishes and requests of children back to the North Pole.
The evening’s festivities will include live musical entertainment by the 1st G Praise Band and the River City Drum Corps. In addition to holiday tunes, free snacks and refreshments such as cookies and hot cider will be available to all those who attend.
“I want to invite everyone to come out and join this community celebration as a way to embrace the holiday season in a neighborhood that enjoys the togetherness this time of year brings,” says James.
