Residents of Metro Louisville will be honored by Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D) 2 for efforts in making their community a better place to live.

“We need to say a special thank you to people who have made significant contributions to each of our districts,” says Shanklin.

A ceremony honoring some 24 individuals will be held on Thursday, February 22nd from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. The event will take place in the Council Chambers of Historic City Hall, 601 West Jefferson Street.

Members of the Metro Council submitted the name of a person or persons who have been an active force of change in their area.

The program is part of the celebration for Black History month in February. In the past, Dr. Shanklin has honored local African Americans who were first in their field. Local educators have also been honored.
