On Friday, August 7th a special group of young people will meet in Algonquin Park to participate in a cleanup and then get ready to embrace a new school year.
“Each year, I look forward to helping the youth of our community get ready to go Back to School,” says Woolridge. “We should always take the time to invest in our young people by helping them with their education.”
Woolridge is sponsoring this year’s St. George Community Center “Back to School” event. It will take place in Algonquin Park beginning at 9:00am. The event features a park wide cleanup, a cook out, recreational activities; music and a back pack give away for up to 100 youth.
“The cleanup is a great way for young people to help the community and appreciate our city parks,” says Woolridge. “But we also have some fun planned for them.”
Supported by materials from Operation Brightside, participants will be given t-shirts and lawn bags for cleaning the park. When the cleanup is over, there will be activities and games hosted by Metro Louisville and the Staff of St. George’s Community Center with a cookout to follow.
“After the cleanup, the fun and the food, the backpacks will be handed out and I want to make sure that each child goes back to school with pride and filled with a message of success for the coming year,” says Woolridge.
