Historic City hall will become a classroom on Wednesday, March 14th when an estimated 100 students from Brandeis Elementary School will visit to learn more about the Metro Council and Metro Government.
“This is a good opportunity for students to come and see how the Metro Council operates,” says Councilwoman Attica Scott (D-1). “They will have the chance to see where the Legislative Branch makes its decisions and serves our community.”
Scott will address the students and answer their questions about her role as a member of the Metro Council and how constituents have a role to play in getting things done for their community and neighborhoods.
“It is important that we get young people involved in government,” says Scott. “They are residents and future taxpayers who need to understand how government functions in society.”
The students will arrive at City Hall at around 9:30am. They will be divided into groups and tour Council Chambers as well as offices on all floors. The tours will be finished by 1:30pm.
