The Metro Council’s Community Affairs Committee will host a discussion of the topic of expunging minor offenses off a criminal record when it meets on Wednesday. February 1st.

“Many times, people may not be aware of how to expunge a misdemeanor offense off of their record,” says Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2), who chairs the Committee. “Many Council people get calls for help from people who have a minor offense but cannot find work because of a criminal background check. So we thought the subject merits some attention.”

The Committee will hear from lawyers and others about the expungement process when it meets in Council Chambers at 1:30pm.

The meeting will be carried live on Metro TV Insight Cable Channel 25. It will also be streamed live on the Metro Council web site at www.louisvilleky.gov/metrocouncil . Just click the “Watch gavel to gavel” icon.
