Louisville – Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D-5) is inviting residents of District 5 to a special “Crime Talk” Community Meeting with Chief Steve Conrad, Colonel Yvette Gentry and the Majors of the First and Second Divisions of Louisville Metro Police on Monday, August 19th.
“I have invited the Chief and the Majors of the two Divisions to update the community on crime and crime patterns in our area,” says Hamilton. “This is an opportunity to hear how the divisions are handling hot spot areas of crime and what we as a community can do to help them keep us safe.”
The Community Meeting will begin at 6:30pm at the Shawnee Golf Course Clubhouse, 460 Northwestern Parkway.
The Councilwoman has also invited Luther Brown and Dr. Eddie Woods of the No Red Dots Campaign and Janene Shakir of the Peace Education Program to talk about their effort to reach young people through programs of nonviolent conflict resolution.
Free gun locks will be given away for those who would like one.
“Public safety is a top priority on the Metro Council but we need the community’s help if we are going to ensure our children and families are safe,” says Hamilton. “This meeting is a way to get to know the officers who patrol our streets and for the police to hear firsthand the community’s concerns.
