The Metro Council’s Transportation and Public Works Committee will hear from “Safe Streets Louisville” when it meets on Monday, December 15th.
“We have seen an unfortunate amount of fatal accidents in the Metro Area this year involving pedestrians and bicyclists,” says Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D-9) who chairs the Committee. “Safe Streets Louisville” has asked to come before us to explain their efforts to lower these kinds of accidents.”
Jackie Green, Co-founder of Safe Street Louisville, will appear before the Committee. Among the items up for discussion: efforts to make intersections safer; specifically around schools and public parks and more traffic stops to check on driver’s licenses and vehicle registration
“We are seeing more people out on bikes and walking because of the economy,” says Ward-Pugh. “I am sure the committee would like to know where Metro Government might be able to do more to make our streets and roads safer.”
