Louisville - Spring is here and District 9 is ready to shake off the cold of winter and embrace warmer temperatures and sunny days with an event to rally community spirit and pride.
“Once again, it is time for a little spring cleaning,” says Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D-9) “On Saturday April 13th, our volunteers will join hundreds of others all over Louisville Metro by picking up trash and clearing away winter debris.”
The 15th Annual Ninth District Spring Cleanup will run from 8:30am until Noon. It is held in conjunction with two events: the Annual Brightside Spring Cleanup and the Mayor’s Give – A – Day of Service.
Bags, gloves, and tools will be provided for volunteers who want to spend the day with neighbors doing cleanup work. T-shirts are available on a first-come, first-serve basis to those who didn’t pre-register.
“Last year, thousands of volunteers all over Louisville showed what a difference can be made when everyone gets involved,” says Ward-Pugh. “I am always amazed by the number of dedicated volunteers who will come out on a Saturday to show their pride and willingness to make a difference in our community.”
Volunteers will gather at the Clifton Kroger Parking Lot, 2200 Brownsboro Road, at 8:30 am where a light breakfast, provided by McDonalds and coffee provided by Heine Brothers’ Coffee will be served. Then at 9:00am volunteers will be sent out to start the cleanup.
