Louisville – Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton is inviting residents to the next District 5 Community Meeting for a discussion of education and housing issues on Monday, October 15th.
“Among the items we will be discussing are proposed changes to the Academy@Shawnee,” says Hamilton. “Anytime there is a change in education in our area, I want to make sure parents and others know what is going on.”
JCPS Board Chairman Diane Porter and other school officials will be on hand to explain the changes to the Academy which include a middle school component.
Parents and policy makers are working to prep students for future job opportunities and skills that will last a lifetime. The meeting will also be an opportunity to find out more about the JCPS Common Core Standards and the upcoming Showcase of Schools.
There will also be a discussion of the Shawnee Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area (NRSA) funding.
“I want to encourage the community to come out and learn more about these programs and get involved in making our community a better place for our children,” says Hamilton.
The meeting will be held at the Shawnee Golf Course Clubhouse, 460 Northwestern Parkway beginning at 6:30pm.
