Eighth District Councilman Tom Owen and the Original Highlands Neighborhood Association invite residents to "Bring Your Own Briefcase" and learn to navigate the public transit system during a TARC tutorial. The program will be held from 7:15 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in front of Starbucks Coffee Shop, 970 Baxter Avenue.

Councilman Owen will present a brief program covering the basics of the transit system, including use of bike racks, fare payment, stop requests, reading a schedule and transit map, and more. In addition, volunteers will be on hand to provide neighborhood-specific information on the many transit routes serving the Original Highlands Neighborhood, and will assist in planning door-to-door itineraries for individuals.

Owen and other volunteers will board buses bound for downtown (via Broadway and Jefferson to 8th Street) and put the "classroom work" into practice, arriving downtown around 8:40 a.m.

Complimentary coffee will be provided by Starbucks.

For more information contact John Cullen, president of the Original Highlands Neighborhood, at 568-3543.
