The Okolona area will gather to officially welcome the holiday season, when Councilwoman Madonna Flood (D-24) welcomes Santa Claus for Light up Okolona on Friday, November 21st.
“We want everyone to come out and join us for this special night,” says Flood. “It is the time of year when we should be thankful for all we have and celebrate our blessings as a community.”
The festivities will be held at Lone Oak Park located at the corner of Preston Highway and the Outer Loop. Flood and Okolona Business and Professional Association President Mark Lamkin will greet Santa Claus for the start of the Holiday Season.
The fun will get started at 5:45p.m. as the Southern High School Concert Band sets the holiday mood with music before students from Blue Lick Elementary serenade the air with their sweet voices. Dancers from Stepping Out Dance Studio will perform as the most anticipated guest makes his arrival around 6:30p.m.
“I’m sure Santa will have many requests this year and there will be fun and entertainment for everyone,” says Flood. “I want to thank all the many groups who every year takes the time to help all of enjoy the holiday season.”
White Castle, Golden Corral, Louisville Metro Police Department, District 7, Okolona Fire Department, and Interlink Counseling are participating in the festivities.
